The Sustainable Conversation

The Style Therapy model exists to bring women solutions for body, shape, vibration, budget and lifestyle while exposing myths and limited (or negative) mindsets that they may have around what they can and cannot have, achieve, do and manifest. When I shop for a woman, I am shopping for her based on what is required for her body, shape, vibration, budget and lifestyle.

At this point, ethically sourced fashion does seem to be running at a higher price point -- not unlike organic foods! The brands that I love and recommend for women who are ONLY shopping "in this fashion" are: Reformation, Amour Vert, Everlane.

  • Would I check into some lower priced sustainable brands to see if there's something that would work for your shape? Yes.

  • Would I choose garments from these brands if they do not work for your body? NO.

  • Is it possible to shop Sustainably for your body? Yes!!!

  • Will you need to raise your standard to the price points of these garments in order to keep your own standard intact AND get items that are perfect for your body? TBH: Probably.

If a client were to come to me and say "I only wear brands under the Kardashian family: kut from cloth, Skims, Good American," etc. I would say -- okay those are labels. Do they fit your body? Do they fit your vibration? -- Because if you're buying them for any other reason outside of that, you'll be back to square one. I see this same phenomenon frequently with women who are committed to shopping a certain way: only second hand, only sustainable, only marked down items, only local. They have closets full of things bought based on restrictions vs. what works for their bodies.

If you can find things based on your restrictive guidelines that raise your vibration because they fit well, feel good and can be mixed and match a million ways, YAY! Yes! Go girl! That is the goal!

What is not sustainable for your mind, money or energy?
Shopping brands based on what they say that they stand for vs. what makes you feel good and what fits.

You will only end up with more non-options.

For myself, I do not purchase anything -- ever -- that I think will end up in a landfill because it is poorly made and will need to be thrown away due to deterioration. Most of the brands that I shop (for myself) are not calling themselves "Sustainable Brands" yet the items I own and wear last for many years, or as long as they suit my vibration, and then they are consigned or donated.

As I write this in 2021, I am wearing lululemon pants + a lululemon top that I purchased in 2013. In this way, the brands that I choose for myself and others "sustain the test of time" based on quality and are therefore not "throw away clothes." I live with the mantra of fewer, better things. Quality over quantity. Know what works for you, your body, your vibe and forget the rest. Now, full disclaimer, I have LOTS OF CLOTHES because I LOVE clothes, I love having lots of items to play with because that's who I am. And I also know, understand and love the value of a French woman dressing impeccably using the same few, high quality items a million ways.

Can I make a variety of outfits using a small wardrobe capsule? You better believe it.

The Illumination Session is a wonderful starting point to learn what works for your shape, vibration, lifestyle and budget.
I look forward to serving you!
