What i bought in 2023
This was an interesting year for the wardrobe.
Another year “off the bike” and out of my eight year long routine as a committed spin instructor. I attempted to freeze my eggs (twice); my weight shifted and rolled around from that. My drinking consisted of 1-3 drinks a month vs 2-3 drinks in a single sitting. I continued to indulge in great meals with my boyfriend.
I softened. Internally and externally.
I traveled to Amsterdam, Charleston, Nashville, Bozeman, Asheville, Paris and Raleigh. Not once did I feel the need for something new or different than I already had, but I thoroughly enjoyed adding to my wardrobe as part of the experience of venturing to various places. On each of these trips, my view of what is possible for myself and my style expanded.
My wardrobe continued to be… my comfort.
A place of play, joy, ease and expression.
We are, as always, in an ever-evolving relationship, my wardrobe and me. She ebbs and flows with me as my body changes and I thank her for her flexibility and grace. I am also so very grateful to be able to add and let go as needed.
Using a mix of Holistic Closet Cleanse and Cleanse for Clarity, I let go of a lot of clothes in 2023. Eras of tighter clothes, fitness-y clothes, lower quality items. Quite frankly, pieces that no longer fit — my essence or my body. My version of sexy continues to change. No part of me wants to be as rigid as I once was. I am smack dab in the middle of my thirties and my body is happy with being right here, right now.
Forever in my mind is the woman I am evolving into being.
And not because that woman is way out in front of me.
She is inside of me, guiding me, nurturing me, calling me forward.
Below is what I curated for myself through the changes of 2023. There are a few pieces that I chose in different colors, like this fabulous piece from The Great, that I bought in a deep emerald. This sweater from LaLigne was acquired in a bright kelly green. The printed Farm Rio top I added is not this one but it is similarly bold with large puff sleeves. I wore this dress to an outdoor wedding in July, but in a gorgeous print. I bought two denim skirts. And I finally splurged on earrings I’ve wanted for two years as a “Good Job. You made it through a tough year” gift to myself.
